The EHS Manager position’s primary responsibility is for providing leadership and management over the planning and direction of Environmental Health and Safety compliance activities to assure that Sensient Flavors, Juneau WI complies with federal, state and local laws and regulations, in addition to Sensient internal EH&S standards and practices. 

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager serves as the subject matter expert for development, implementation, and leadership of Sensient Environmental and emergency planning policy/programs for the facility. 

 Responsibilities

Monitor Environmental Health and Safety compliance activities at the Juneau location through auditing, reporting, metrics implementation, incident tracking and investigation. 

Lead the development and execution of an Environmental Health and Safety strategy to improve safety performance, reduce accident/injury/illness incident rates and control workers compensation costs.

 Serve as the facility lead for development, implementation and execution of activities including, but not limited to: 

  • Develop and Maintain site written EH&S procedures and related documents
  • Maintain site EH&S compliance calendar and track completion of compliance activities
  • Manage and track facility EHS concerns to resolution, and provide status reports
  • Air Permitting and Air Compliance Management
  • Wastewater Permitting and Compliance Management
  • Developing and Managing Environmental Compliance Programs and Procedures
  • New Product Review/Commercialization Review for EHS Impact on Permits and Production Processes
  • Facility Compliance with SPCC and SWPP Planning and Implementation
  • Liaison with Regulatory Authorities regarding EHS Compliance Issues
  • Preparation and Submission of all EHS Reports, Documents and Plans both internally and externally
  • Analyze, prepare and submit Capital Budget requests for EHS compliance and other needs
  • Oversight and management of Vendors supporting EHS activities 
  • Provide SME support to the facility engineering team for capital requests related to all EHS projects as directed
  • Provide a local leadership role for the facility Process Safety Management compliance program

 Environmental reports included at the Juneau location:

  • EPCRA – State of Wisconsin Annual – Tier II Report
  • Toxic Release Inventory
  • Annual Air Emissions Inventory Reporting
  • Annual Compliance and Deviations Report
  • Wisconsin DNR NCCW and Wastewater Reports

 This role also requires development, implementation and execution of the Health and Safety Program including 

  • Serve as lead for review and investigation of plant HSE incidents
  • Development and delivery of EHS training
  • Development and Management of Site Health and Safety Programs
  • Development and implementation of an on-going EHS internal audit program
  • Facilitation of the Plant Safety and Health Committee
  • Facilitation of the plant PSM Program
  • Development, tracking and management of internal metrics and EHS communication processes.

Qualifications

  1. Must be able to access office by stairs or elevator.
  2. Must be able to drive to facilities, transporting others as necessary.
  3. Must be able to visually distinguish colors.
  4. Must have 20/20 vision with corrective eyeglasses, etc., if necessary.

Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety Engineering, Environmental Science, or Industrial Hygiene required.  Special training in hazardous materials management, environmental compliance, environmental regulations, is preferred. 
  • This position requires 5 years minimum experience.  The position reports to the EHS Director – North America with dotted line to the Corporate EHS Manager and Plant Manager.  Experience in food processing or a chemical manufacturing environment is preferred.
