Essential Functions: This position is responsible for the following tasks, duties and responsibilities:

 

Job Title: Manufacturing Plant Manager I, II, III

Department: Operations

Locations: Detroit Lakes, Lakeville, Dawsonville, Washington

Reports To: Director of Operations

FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt

SUMMARY

This position provides leadership and direction in the development and attainment of strategic deployment goals; is responsible for value stream operations, continuous improvement, and human resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages several subordinate Manufacturing Leaders or Supervisors and Material Leaders. Manages the supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Leadership Responsibilities:

1. Establishes performance standards, monitors employee performance and focuses the Department’s attention to areas of opportunity to maximize performance.

2. Maintains ethics and integrity congruent to the Company’s mission and values.

3. Assists in the development of personnel through positive reinforcement and coaching techniques.

4. Responsibilities include hiring, planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and assuring problems are resolved; developing leadership in all.

5. Provide coaching and direction for development of direct reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience; ASQE, APIC s, Lean Certification(s) and/or Masters Degree are desired. General knowledge of internal accounting controls, and financial analysis of expenditures.

 

EXPERIENCE:

o Manufacturing Plant Manager I: Seven to ten years related lean manufacturing/operations; previous management/leadership experience is required.

o Manufacturing Plant Manager II: Minimum of ten years related manufacturing/operations; previous management/leadership experience is required. Lean Certification achieved.

o Manufacturing Plant Manager III: Minimum of thirteen or more years related manufacturing/operations; previous management/leadership experience is required. Has conducted and lead successful lean events.

 

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from employees, customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present and communicate information to employees, management, public groups and/or board of directors.

 

PROBLEM SOLVING: Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, or diagram form; and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Work Environment: The position has good working conditions in a manufacturing plant environment, and is a diversified job requiring sustained mental effort related to internal/external contacts, organizational issues, planning and technical areas. The individual may encounter significant emotional strain or tension. There is sustained exposure to standing, sitting and the plant environment. There is also moderate exposure to Video Data Terminals (VDTs).
