Material Engineering Specialist – Plastics

Responsibilities:
- Subject matter expert of plastics processing equipment; including mixing, molding, extruding, processing and experiments / general R & D as needed
- Research and development of new applications for plastic materials
- Participate in decisions of plastic-working equipment
- Development of new plastics programs and Special Project oversight as required
- Oversee plastics research and development area and equipment
- Develop/maintain/communicate timelines (Project and other) with customers and internal departments
- Manage plastics development projects and requests
- Write technical reports and present when needed
- Data analysis and interpretation
- Assist and develop with mold design
- Application engineering with customers and sales department
- Process development with manufacturing centers to develop new processes as required
- Design and develop new product materials; DFMEA, drawings, prototypes, test protocols and evaluations
Qualifications:
- B.S. in Plastics Technology or Plastics Engineering (or equivalent)
- 5+ years working in Material Development with reference to plastics
- 3-5+ years working with customers on development projects
- 3+ years working with six sigma methodologies such as design of experiments (DOE), root cause analysis, statistical process control and product/process improvement methodologies
- Strong analytical problem solving skills
- Business English language skills both written and verbal
- Ability to travel both domestically in US and internationally if requested
