Brief Description:
The Rebuild Mechanic, Level 3 is responsible for successfully disassembling, assembling, testing, and general repairs of various components and assemblies regarding FRAC equipment while completing necessary paperwork and documentation. This position is also responsible for disassembling, assembling, and troubleshooting electronic equipment and computers used in pressure pumping operations.
Detailed Description:
- Comply with all Company and customer Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) rules, practices, and guidelines
- Act as a leader and mentor to other mechanics, assisting them with diagnostics and complex repairs
- Repair or replace defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools and reassemble equipment
- Perform scheduled and routine preventive maintenance to ensure that fracturing equipment continues to run smoothly
- Maintain equipment to repair or replace defective parts on diesel engines, transmissions, and pumps
- Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical and electronic components
- Diagnose electronic problems and determine how to correct them, checking wiring schematics, repair manuals, and part catalogs as necessary
- Test equipment at OEM facilities prior to dispatch to the field ensuring all equipment meets UPP specifications
- Document all testing of electronic equipment for each repair or new build piece of equipment
- Compile information from walk-through assessments to proactively resolve any issues to maintain world-class facilities
- Coordinate needed repairs, manage component replacement, and work with inventory specialist to have inventory of components on hand
- Represent the Company and our values with integrity while maintaining the highest ethical and legal standards with all interactions

- Perform other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all designated times
- Broad knowledge of diesel-powered equipment and mechanical aptitude necessary to perform primary functions of disassembly, assembly, test, and repairs
- Knowledge of electronic equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Possess basic computer skills, including in Microsoft (MS) Office (Outlook, Word, Excel etc.)
- Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and specifications to maintain standardization of fracturing equipment
- Ability to determine the type of tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Knowledge of hydraulic or hydraulic applications as controlled by electronic components and systems
- Knowledge of equipment functionality and control systems
- Effective customer service and communication skills and ability to collaborate with other employees, customers and third parties via telephone, in written form, or in person
- Demonstrate clear communication skills including ability to read, write and speak English, and to promptly follow verbal and written directions in English along with the ability to establish and maintain effective rapport with all employees at different levels both in the office and in the field
- Ability to work under time-sensitive deadlines while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor when adversity and multiple initiatives/priorities are encountered
- Ability to travel as needed to other offices and work sites, occasionally requiring extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area
- Willingness and ability to work long hours in different weather condition
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED certificate
- Prior experience with MIG welding, stick welding, TIG welding, plasma cutters, and torches on steel and aluminum
- Prior experience with fabrication and pipe fitting to make manifolds, support structures, equipment repairs, and equipment modifications with steel and aluminum
- Must have and maintain valid state-issued driver’s license, be eligible to drive a Company vehicle and meet the requirements of the Company’s vehicle program, policy and/or guidelines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Technical institute certification/degree
- 3+ years experience with MIG welding, stick welding, TIG welding, plasma cutters, and torches on steel and aluminum
- 3+ years experience with fabrication and pipe fitting to make manifolds, support structures, equipment repairs, and equipment modifications with steel and aluminum
- (External candidate only) Experience removing and installing frac pump and blender major components such as engines, transmissions, power ends, fluid ends, cooling packages and centrifugal pumps
- (External candidate only) Experience building, installing, and troubleshooting electric over air and air over air actuating systems
Additional Details:
The Rebuild Mechanic, Level 3 must work with an emphasis on individual safety and safety for others, including coworkers and third parties. This position includes working outdoors for long periods of time in all types of weather conditions typical of the area where the job is located, including dust, humidity, sleet, snow, rain, mud, cold, heat, wind, and other inclement weather. Working conditions for this position may involve exposure to varying outdoor conditions, including environmental chemicals, gases, noise, dampness, fumes, radiation, and heights.
