The Model-Based Systems Engineer will support the adoption of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) in the Power and Controls business at Collins Aerospace. This role is in the Digital Engineering organization. Your main responsibility is to support the product line engineering teams in developing Cameo/SysML model libraries and capabilities to accelerate digital transformation in the business. Cameo/MagicDraw/Teamwork Cloud skills are highly desired but not required, as we are willing to train this motivated individual into becoming the resident expert in SysML. Your strong background in systems engineering and hardware product development combined with experience in MBE and MBSE will help you to understand how to build SysML models that meet the business and product line needs.

The MBSE Engineer will support onboarding Cameo modeling engineers working on programs and developing and maintaining a library of re-useable parts and templates to company and industry wide standards. The MBSE Engineer will also coordinate projects with global engineering teams and create demos of using Cameo to connect various data sources and analyses using digital thread (i.e. DOORS, Simulink, etc).

Communication skills are important as this role offers opportunities to work with multiple cross-functional team members as well as management and customers.

Hybrid:

  • Report onsite weekly (2-3 days per week average)

  • Must be a commutable distance from Windsor Locks, CT to work a hybrid schedule reporting on-site as needed.

  • 15% domestic travel required.

  • This role is eligible for relocation, when qualified.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Driving Systems Engineering process changes on your engagements.

  • Creating and validating MBSE models including Stakeholder Needs, Requirements, Behavioral, and Structural Diagrams

  • Supporting the development of connectivity between MBSE tools and other hardware design/analysis tools via digital thread manager tools

  • Managing model libraries in Teamwork cloud collaborative environment

  • Supporting pilot projects to show multiple tool and environment integrations.

  • Create models, interface definitions, execute trade studies and analyses.

  • Coordinating modeling tasks with Global engineering centers

  • Develop and share best practices, mentor, and train others.

Qualifications/Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.

  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

  • 3+ years of Systems Engineering experience in a hardware product development environment.

  • Familiarity with mechanical or electrical design and system analysis (Simulink, modelica).

  • Familiarity with DOORS and requirements development and management.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts to management and engineers.

  • Ability to work independently and ensure project goals are met.

  • Ability to prepare and present status, plans, and risks to management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Cameo/MagicDraw/Teamwork Cloud and SysML modeling (strongly desired)

  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience.

  • Familiarity with digital thread tools such as 3DExperience, Syndeia, and/or eCube

  • Familiarity with agile development methodology
