The role of Officer IT Workplace Management is to ensure that business in a particular geographical territory have appropriate and timely accesses to I&T products and services. The Officer IT Workplace Management will act as a liaison between IT and the business to communicate and assess impacts on the business. For example, planned events within IT Infrastructures and Applications that have the potential of affecting business processes, and unplanned events such as major technology incidents that are causing outages and degradation of IT service. The Officer IT Workplace Management will also participate in the delivery of I&T projects by ensuring a proper integration of solutions and provide end users with support and guidance to I&T product and services.
Business Relationship Management
· Identifies, addresses and tracks customer issues and escalate the business impact of major technology incidents
· Ensure communication, planning and logistic for upcoming IT events; maintenance windows, planned outages and changes in equipment and software
· Manage within the regional territory the IT portion of major facility and employee relocations or major hardware and software deployments
· Supervise the delivery of IT projects by ensuring a proper integration of solutions and provide end users with support and guidance to related IT products and services
· Oversee distribution of I&T assets
· Support the business in the development of their business resumption recovery plans and ensure definition of the IT portion of the business resumption recovery plans
· Coordinate team meetings and internal IT sessions
· Supervise local tours in the region
· Manage business expectations
Education/Certification/Designation
· Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent work experience
General Skills/Knowledge
· Excellent understanding of IT infrastructure components and relationships
· Technical understanding of IT ecosystems, particularly for large companies
· Excellent business understanding (rail operations, multimodal logistics, train operations and track and engineering functions) and the relationship they have with existing IT services
· Excellent customer service skills
· Ability to plan and organize work and processes; ability to direct multiple projects and meet deadlines
· Highly autonomous with strong organizational skills
· Adapts rapidly to changing circumstances and effectively manage stress levels
· Ability to network across the organization and build positive customer relationships
· Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills required. Including the ability to provide written and verbal instructions.
· Good understanding of Windows operating systems
· Good understanding of IP switches/routers, networking concepts and Telecom services
· Excellent computer skills with an overall understanding of MS Office, O365, Microsoft eco system, etc
· ITIL framework knowledge of key Operations processes
· Strong decision-making skills
· Very good prioritization capabilities
Experience
· Minimum 5-7 years overall IT work experience
· IT Services experience in a railroad environment or a transportation logistics company
Assets
· Knowledge of railroad operations
· Knowledge of ITSM tools (ServiceNow)
· ITIL certifications
Working Conditions
· This role will require physical presence in Homewood
· The job function will require on call duties outside business hours
· Work performed in a combination of office environment, outdoors in varying weather conditions and requires adherence to safety policies and procedures.
