Position Overview: As a Shearing Operator at our Hermitage, PA Service Center, you will play a crucial role in the metal fabrication process. Your primary responsibility will be operating and maintaining the shearing equipment to cut metal sheets and plates according to specific project requirements. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in metal shearing and possess a strong mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities:

  1. Operate shearing equipment to cut metal sheets and plates based on job orders and engineering specifications.
  2. Set up and adjust the shearing machine to ensure precise and accurate cuts.
  3. Monitor the production process, inspecting materials for quality and identifying any defects or irregularities.
  4. Perform routine maintenance on the shearing machine to keep it in optimal working condition.
  5. Follow all safety guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  6. Collaborate with other team members to coordinate workflow and meet production targets.
  7. Maintain accurate records of production output, job details, and material usage.
  8. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality.
  9. Comply with company policies, procedures, and regulations at all times.

Requirements:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Proven experience as a Shearing Operator in a metal fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of shearing equipment operation and maintenance.
  4. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and job orders.
  5. Proficient in using measuring tools and gauges to ensure precise cuts.
  6. Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality work.
  7. Basic computer skills for data entry and production tracking.
  8. Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  9. Physical stamina to lift and move heavy metal materials as required.
  10. Adherence to safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Technical or vocational training in metalworking or related field.
  2. Experience with different types of metal and various thicknesses.
  3. Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles.
