Responsibilities

Plans, directs, and coordinate manufacturing processes in the Production Departments. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods and standards, analyzes and plans equipment and labor requirements, and workflow.

  • Specify and purchase equipment for molding departments including molding machines and secondary equipment (dryers, water temperature control units, hot runner controls, blenders, grinders, loaders).
  • Specify and purchase automation including robots, EOAT, and guarding
  • Work with product engineering to apply plastics engineering principals to part design.
  • Conduct mold filling simulation for improved product and tool design.
  • Review mold designs with tooling engineering and offer input as the voice of Operations.
  • Apply scientific (decoupled) molding techniques when establishing the process for new and existing molds.
  • Teach robots for part extraction, degating, and pack- out.
  • Define layout of work area around molding machines.
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods and standards.
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements and workflow.
  • Confers with planning staff to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applies analytical and statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and capability.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree from a four-year college or university, preferably in Plastics/Polymers, Chemical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 4-6 years of experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office required.
  • Experience with 3D solid modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks) and plastic mold filling simulation software (e.g., Autodesk Mold Flow) required.
  • Proficiency with MRP and Process Monitoring software desired.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations.
  • Ability to effectively present information to management, engineers, vendors, assembly line supervisors and workers.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals.
