POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the daily setup and operation of hydraulic CNC controlled press brakes in an aerospace fabrication shop. He/she may be required to assist other operators as a helper, and/or support our mission as a program mentor. This is a cross functional position within the Sheet Metal Fabrication department.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate a hydraulic brake press per set-up sheet and engineering drawings.
  • Select correct tooling for the job task and follow setup documents.
  • Load, install and correctly set up the tools required per set-up sheet.
  • Produce conforming parts per customer, engineering, and quality requirements.
  • Make machine adjustments as needed to produce conforming product.
  • Complete time and quantity transactions using our ERP data collection system.
  • Make routine decisions and use problem solving to resolve basic manufacturing issues.
  • Complete manufacturing paperwork to ensure traceability requirements are met.
  • 6S - Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the area.
  • Participate in equipment preventative maintenance at the operator level.
  • Role model proper work ethics and behaviors in line with “The Orion Way” culture.

Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • Must be ok with working a 4 x 10 schedule from 3:25 p.m. to 1:55 a.m.  
  • 3+ years Press Brake experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret aerospace engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to use basic inspection tools to verify product conformity.
  • Experience operating a Turret Punch, Router, Water Jet, and/or Blanking Press a plus! 
  • Dependable with good work ethics.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and teach others.
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Have a positive, team-based attitude!

  • Frequent use of computer 
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to reach, manipulate, handle, and hold material

  • Frequent use of speaking ability to express or exchange ideas, communicate detailed information, or convey instructions
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, and pulling of 15 pounds. Maximum lift, carry or pull of 50 pounds. Objects that are heavier than 40 pounds require a team lift. Seek assistance if an object is heavy or awkward to lift, push or pull independently.
  • Frequent exposure to manufacturing shop floor, requiring use of Safety Glasses
  • Frequent exposure to excess noise levels, occasionally necessitating the use of Hearing Protection
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
