• Role and Responsibilities

  The Principal Applications Engineer is the go-to person for key people at selected accounts (existing or wanted customers) for all technical matters. The role involves activities that span from high-level strategic interface with the customer down to implementation details and hands-on tests, developments and trainings of customer engineers.

  • Consults with engineers of selected customers and offers highest machine vision expertise in all technical matters related to Cognex projects
  • Is the focal point and single window for customer for all Cognex technical resources and involves different internal groups as required
  • Establishes contact and coordinate with 3rd party SI’s, machine builders and accessory providers for complete solutions to customers
  • Executes evaluations and run on site tests at selected accounts
  • Regular visits and calls to key stakeholders within customer organization
  • Introduction and training on new products
  • Attends customer workshops, seminars and promotional activities as required
  • Helps troubleshooting and finding corrective measures in case of issues with current machines or developments
  • Co-ordinates with and escalates to BU when needed

  Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • 5+ years experience in industrial vision
  • 5+ years experience in programming
  • 3+ years of industry experience of relevant accounts
  • Experience in factory automation integration (e.g. robot, PLC, …)
  • Degree in a technical discipline (e.g. mechatronics, information technologies, electrical engineering)

  Additional Notes

  This position is a mix of deep technical understanding with high level strategic thinking and communication. The candidate will need to feel comfortable in a multi-dimensional matrix organization in a virtual team, but at the same be the focal point for a limited number of strategic accounts, which he contacts on a regular basis.
