Life Cycle Engineering (LCE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable and delivered on time. Life Cycle Engineering consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our Life Cycle Engineering disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.

Job Summary:

We’re an employee-focused team collaborating across departments, including Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Supply Chain, Operations, Test & Integration and Production.

As a Principal System Safety Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing engineering hardware and electrical drawings and schematics assessing for fault tolerance, latent hazards, and safety requirements compliance
  • Working with test and tactical operating and maintenance procedures to assure the proper administrative controls are in place
  • Working across all integrated product teams and lines to properly eliminate hazards or provide effective controls.
  • Providing leadership in collaborations with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through production to demilitarization and disposal

This job is posted as Onsite and is based at our Tucson, AZ facility.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
Key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing System Safety Program or Design analyses
  • Managing a large system safety program or multiple mid-sized safety programs, including:
  • Monitoring program technical execution,
  • Interfacing with stakeholders (e.g. customers, program offices, subcontractors, vendors)
  • Mentoring Jr. Engineers
  • Preparing Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for Customer Approval
  • Briefing safety of the program at technical reviews and as part of the safety approval process
  • Interpreting system requirements, customer specifications and military
  • standards
  • Preparing internal and customer reports describing various analyses relevant to the System Safety program
  • Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design
  • Obtain and maintain Special Access Program clearance

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically Requires: Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM). Electrical Engineering degree preferred. Minimum 8 years of relevant experience with: System Safety Engineering, System Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, or equivalent Safety Engineering experience in areas including Aerospace, Automotive, Nuclear Energy or Medical Device. An advanced degree may account for additional years of experience as required for this position.
  • Leadership experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Top Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with DoD System Safety Programs
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills, with the ability to manage a safety program and provide direction to supporting safety personnel
  • Electrical Engineering or Sneak Circuit Analysis experience
  • Electrical Engineering degree / education preferred
  • Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
