Position Title: Process Chemist
Location: Green River, WY
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new processes, products, and applications of products
- Customer technical support needs
- Plant support (chemical and process subject matter expert)
- Technical documentation
- Experiment with multiple variables simultaneously and identify acceptable ranges for all operational parameters
- Improve existing processes to reduce cost and increase reliability, purity, and safety
- Develop/execute process design package for capital projects
- Conduct Process Hazard Analyses
- Mentor new engineers
Activities:
- Improve processes and products
- Train /teach operations regarding new projects
- Conduct bench and plant testing (materials, additives, process modifications, etc.)
- Prepare technical reports based on lab/plant test findings
- Use simulation or modeling software to determine how changes in process affect the final product e.g., heat and mass balance
- Teach technical and process related classes
- Perform technical and economic evaluations of alternative processes, additives, etc.
- Develop and implement solutions to process problems
- Assist plants in development of short- and long-term technical plans
- Lead process engineering initiatives
- Use a variety of analytical methods to monitor processes
- Troubleshoot existing processes
- Electronic/paper research to identify potential solutions and competing technologies
- Competitor monitoring and analysis
- Identify and develop process control mechanisms
- Monitor and report lake level and composition
- Involved in tailings management
- Conduct safety hazards reviews
- Assist in performing root cause analyses
- Other duties as may be deemed appropriate by their manager and that fall within the general remit of the position.
Skill, Capability, and Educational Requirements:
- BS Degree in Engineering or Chemistry required
- 6 + years of experience desired
- Lean Sigma Capabilities (Black Belt) preferred
Final determination on pay grade will be made by HR and company leadership considering the candidate’s education, experience, past performance, demonstrated leadership and influence.
