The Process Engineering/Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing and improving existing manufacturing processes as well as Total Preventive Maintenance practices. The Process Engineering/Maintenance Manager will develop and implement process technology in an effort to improve existing capabilities, with consideration towards safety, quality, cost, efficiency, schedules and availability of raw materials. Suggest, coordinate, and implement capital improvement projects in line with Company business plans. PITT team members report to this position. To be successful in this position, you should be able to work effectively within a team and have a high level of technical expertise.Essential Duties:
Responsible for developing manufacturing technology and for improving manufacturing processes as they apply to the production of wire and cable products. Accomplish engineering tasks that require technical data gathering and analysis, problem identification and resolution, process evaluation, cost analysis and reduction. Establish operating equipment capability specifications, define process window, required tooling, and improve manufacturing techniques/processes.
- Leads the implementation of safety and ergonomic improvement initiatives
- Initiates ideas, suggestions, and recommendations within the area of assigned projects. Assists in controlling manufacturing processes by specifying the most efficient use of equipment, materials and manpower. Diagnosis of manufacturing problems as they relate to machinery, materials and processes; identifies and implements appropriate corrective actions.
- Directly involved in scrap reduction, primarily as it relates to the use of equipment, processes and materials. Assists in developing improved methods of manufacturing to reduce scrap, limit excessive usage of raw materials; and developing efficient and economical means of salvaging scrap.
- Assists in special projects dealing with cost reduction studies, equipment utilization and downtime reduction, auditing quality control procedures, instructing manufacturing supervision in new processes and procedures, training of operators in new manufacturing techniques, and general “troubleshooting” of manufacturing processes. Maintains contact with vendors to keep abreast of new processes and latest manufacturing methods and technologies.
- Reviews, sets goals and objectives for PITT team. Ensures that team organization, individual development and communication are in line with the company’s vision and goals. Fosters inter-team collaboration and productivity.
- Develops and executes all CAPEX plans and spending. Justifies, selects and implements new equipment ensuring RFQs, concept/design reviews and runoffs are completed
- Acts to implement and support all programs related to operational improvements on the shop floor. Includes, but not limited to, activities pertaining to:
Product quality improvements
Efficiency and productivity improvements
Process improvements and process cost reductions
Control of material usage and scrap reduction
- Responsible for implementing and improving effective preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Assist and coordinate all outside maintenance service/repair contractors who perform work on equipment and facilities.
- Maintain and incorporate revisions/updates on all machines’ documentation and prints in the department.
- Manage the on-hand spare/replacement parts inventories, as well as the test equipment use for repairing and troubleshooting all machines.
- Assist in training all production personnel on the proper operation of machines in the department. Develop and maintain all training documentation (manuals, posted instructions, computer information screens, etc.) for all operators.
- Develop and maintain all product processing information (documentation) for each machine.

Education:
Four-year Engineering or Manufacturing Technology degree, coupled with relevant work experience. Will consider equivalent work experiences in a wire and cable manufacturing environment in lieu of formal degree. Administrative training is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of five years technical experience in a Manufacturing Engineering, Production or related activity in a wire and cable manufacturing environment, or a minimum of ten years in any other industry.
- Experience implementing and supporting safety and ergonomic solutions and programs
- Project Management experience required. PM certification preferred
- Lean Manufacturing experience/certification preferred
- Six Sigma experience/certification preferred
- Ability to effectively communicate with all organization levels, both orally and written.
- Strong aptitude for combining technical and management disciplines. Leadership potential essential to success.
- Organized and disciplined approach to problem solving.
Equipment/Instruments:
Various hand and power tools; drill press; lathe; large band saw; welder
Essential Physical Functions:
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment that can be noisy.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear required PPE.
- Ability to work long hours while standing and operating machinery.
- Ability to work in high temperatures at times.
- Ability to move objects and materials of at least 40lbs.
