Hours/Shift: Rotating shifts of 12-hour from 6:00am-6:00pm or 6:00pm-6:00am (*Production changes shift every 8 weeks)

Job Type: Full-time
Ability to commute/relocate: Gurnee, IL 60031. Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required).

Job description: Coordinate the execution of the production plan and scheduling of maintenance work with all manufacturing areas in a safe manner. Act as the communication link between shift personnel, production management, and maintenance to notify and address key production issues. Foster a team approach to all work assignments and coach employees to achieve continuous performance improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Direct production employees to accomplish task specific items including housekeeping, production, loading/unloading, material movements, equipment shutdown, equipment start up, LOTO, opeartional discipline standards
• Ensure each production unit is running according to the production plan and assist in troubleshooting activities (logistics, quality, process, equipment) and coordination of solutions.
• Support site standards and the production plan based on safe work practice, equipment and labor availability, and workload.
• Confer with plant management to resolve employee work issues.
• Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within departments or between departments.
• Monitors and enforces cGMP, HACCP, and safety policies in production areas.
• Interpret specifications, job orders, production, and packaging schedule via Epicor, LIMs, Teams, and the site file share.
• Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions.
• Monitor or patrol work area and enforce safety, cGMP, and sanitation regulations.
• Attend occasional meetings during times not necessarily coordinating with shift assignment.
• Communicate and document, through various reporting schemes, any safety incidents, operating inefficiencies, downtime, root cause analysis (including lessons learned), and housekeeping issues.
• Assist the operators in troubleshooting equipment and process when inefficiencies or upsets develop. Coach the operators in the process to continually improve personnel abilities.
• Train, coach, and appraise trainees and established subordinates such that all personnel are competent in performing designated functions.
• Hold each employee accountable for performing daily duties and directed tasks. Address any behavior or performance issues with employee’s immediately and discipline when necessary.
• Ensure all maintenance and production work is carried out according to established OSHA and Gurnee site safe work practices. Conduct safety audits as required to spot check and ensure current practices are followed and enforced.

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required. (Associates degree in related field preferred)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Batch chemical, pharmaceutical or food processing (preferred).
• Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
• Experience managing people and prioritizing resources.

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, incumbent is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear; frequently required to stand and walk; must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
