You will be part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts in the Component Testing group at the Engines Manufacturing facility in Huntsville AL. You will support planning and execution of the component testing across multiple areas including Proof, Flow, Vibration, Thermal, and Cryogenic test areas. This role is a combination of operations, documentation, hands-on work and system troubleshooting/data analysis. This scope will include the planning and execution of testing, operations, verification, maintenance, and improvements to work instructions and product flow.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure work is completed with the highest regard to safety and in accordance with BLUE policies and procedures
  • Provides task-leadership of a multi-disciplined team of technicians in the processing of component testing across multiple testing areas.
  • Create, update, and maintain clear work instructions for work execution across the testing area
  • Operate propellant, pneumatic, or cryogenic component test facilities
  • Analyze test data to support requirements verification tasks
  • Provide technical oversight of systems in the assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures; perform subsequent data reduction and reviews
  • Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers
  • Understand and troubleshoot high pressure and cryogenic fluid and instrumentation systems
  • Perform root cause analysis and failure investigations
  • Perform system hazard analyses
  • Plan and oversee facility maintenance
  • Identify opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings
  • Design, define, procure, and install system components and materials; manage vendors and subcontractors during installation
  • Proactively prepare status updates and communicates both within the organization and with direct customers
  • Ensures that each member of the team performs his/her duty to his/her maximum capability.
  • Demonstrate high standards in test operations and work cooperatively with a diverse team of Integration Engineers, Responsible Engineers and BLUE customers to ensure requirements are met
  • Actively model BLUE Leadership Principles

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering
  • Experience with ground/vehicle launch systems test, operations, and maintenance
  • Experience as a Test Conductor or Test Engineer
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to understand complex systems, investigate and solve challenging problems, and work in a dynamic environment
  • Experience developing, writing, and updating test procedures
  • Strong safety mindset and experience
  • Hands-on experience with hazardous testing with a strong safety record
  • Ability to clearly communicate status, progress, problems, and solutions to lead engineer
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (including presentations)
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated initiative, teamwork, and leadership skills on previous projects/assignments
  • Experience with piping, piping components and instrumentation
  • Experience in testing with Cryogenic Systems, and Pneumatic Systems
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion

Engineer - Mfg/Process/Industrial Sr is $111,484 - $163,510

Engineer - Mfg/Process/Industrial III is $92,400 - $135,520

Engineer - Mfg/Process/Industrial II is $76,725 - $112,530

Engineer - Mfg/Process/Industrial III is $100,800 - $147,840
