Position Summary:

Carboline is seeking a Sales Development Specialist located at our headquarters in St. Louis, MO. This person will support the sales team in key areas including outbound prospecting, lead qualification and conversion, customer service, and administrative support. They will be responsible for sales prospecting activities that create and qualify new opportunities for outside sales staff follow up. The Sales Development Specialist will report to the Global Director of Engineering Sales and Project Tracking to help build a pipeline for our sales division to drive significant revenue growth.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Inside Sales, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator experience is a plus
  • Understanding of Lead Conversion Process

  • Secondary: Product Knowledge

Physical Requirements:

This position requires minimal physical activity. May require lifting up to 50lbs on occasion. May require computer usage for an extended period of time – up to 8 hours in a day. Occasional exposure to various chemicals. May require travel by car up to 50%, including nighttime.

Essential Functions:

  • Engage in two-way communication with inbound and outbound leads to qualify and convert into new prospects.
  • Finding new opportunities for business and sourcing pipeline through lead databases, online, and social media sourcing.
  • Research leads/prospects/accounts; identify key contacts and use marketing resources to generate interest through our diverse campaign channels.
  • Gain competitive and market intelligence on related industry events. Assesses competitors by analyzing and summarizing competitor information and trends.
  • Route qualified opportunities to the appropriate sales and/or Marketing teams for further development and appointments.
  • Review opportunity reporting that will allow the sales team to stay on target with his/her sales plan/strategy
  • Respond, engage and qualify inbound leads and inquiries.
  • Cold call and email prospects generated by a variety of internal and external resources.
  • Create target prospect lists and proactively seek new business opportunities in the market.
  • Educate and develop prospects by demonstrating a strong knowledge in key areas such as product, competitors and industry.
