Job Description:

The person in this position will act as a dual role rental technician/trainer. The applicant will be responsible for safely and effectively inspecting and servicing numerous types of lift trucks and other warehouse equipment while also mentoring the new generation of forklift technicians to effectively and efficiently service industrial equipment in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.  This position may lead into a full-time training position & reports to the Training Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Above all, ensure that safe practices are followed in all aspects of daily activities 
  • Effectively and efficiently inspect\maintain Rental Equipment before and after rent
  • Read, understand, and teach standardized work procedures for scheduled maintenance
  • Ability to stand and instruct for 8-12 hours
  • Effectively mentor new technicians in safe practices
  • Remove, replace, and repair major components of lift trucks, pallet trucks, sweepers/scrubbers, etc. 
  • Perform routine services on equipment including fluid and filter replacements 
  • Annual vehicle inspections as per manufacture requirements 
  • Perform on-site repairs in the field as needed in a fast paced and frequently high stress environment 
  • Maintain the premium degree of professionalism and customer satisfaction that Welch Equipment is known for 

Qualifications:

  • Ability to stand and instruct for 8-12 hours at a time
  • Ability to sit, stand kneel
  • Ability to Lift 75lbs on occasion
  • Detail oriented, organized, and capable of working efficiently in a high-pressure environment with minimal or no guidance 
  • Minimum High School education or equivalent in addition to significant training in the mechanical field 
  • Reasonable level of computer literacy 
  • Impeccable communication skills and the ability to communicate with a wide variety of people and backgrounds 
  • Willingness to work the significant hours associated with the warehouse industry including nights, weekends, overnight and out of state travel if required 
  • ASE certifications are highly preferred
  • Ability to mentor and take ownership of developing technicians’ abilities
