Senior Data Analyst - Power BI Development & Azure Database Design

- Design, deployment, management, and security of company databases, with a focus on database design and modeling

- Lead global data warehouse and business intelligence teams to create effective tools supporting overall strategy and competitive advantage

- Communicate business needs and requirements between product owner, product manager, and technology team

- Support continuous process improvement and frequent delivery of new business capabilities and user adoption

- Azure administration and development skills, emphasizing database design, modeling, and analytics solutions

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience supporting a manufacturing or industrial based company preferred

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science)

• 3+ years experience managing SQL databases; expertise with SQL, Python & Power BI

• Comprehensive experience in business process analysis and modeling

• Proven track record in designing and implementing Business Analysis artifacts

• Experience with Azure administration and development, including Azure SQL, Data Factory, Data Lake, and Data Bricks

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS AND DUTIES

• Use PowerBI and other tools to provide useful data, reporting and analytics to the respective parts of the business.

• Create dashboards and interactive custom visualizations with business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI)

• Provide ad hoc data analysis in support of the company's data analytics programs at all stages of development

• Manage and support database environments (setup, configuration, deployment, monitoring, alerting, auditing, security), emphasizing database design and modeling

• Develop and implement preventative maintenance routines (availability, performance, security, data integrity)

• Assess and manipulate large data sets using SQL, Python and Power BI

• Manage software versions, installations, upgrades, and patch installations across all environments, including Azure or cloud resources

• Design, maintain, troubleshoot complex scripts using industry-standard tools

• Lead logical data modeling processes, convert logical data models into physical data models, and implement using Azure services where appropriate

• Direct root cause analysis on complex incidents, lead problem management discussions

• Install and configure complex databases for applications (Sage, Power BI)

• Develop reports on database portfolio health, escalate significant capacity utilization variations to management

• Act as client advocate, ensure smooth implementation into application architecture and database standards

• Analyze trending data, provide performance recommendations addressing specific application/system performance issues

• Author complex scripts, tutor other DBAs in scripting skills and usage

• Gather functional and business requirements, collaborate with IT staff/vendors to produce desired output

• Coordinate/participate in application upgrades and changes

• Document functions and changes to new or modified functionality

• Implement approved system enhancements, releases, optimizations

• Provide input to the development of business cases for new/enhanced business solutions

• Coordinate technical changes, verify testing results, adhere to technical/business standards compliance

• Provide updates on fixes to known issues and planned updates/upgrades

• Troubleshoot application issues and system errors, escalate to Tier 3/vendor as required

SKILLS/ABILITIES

• Proficiency in basic capacity planning analyses for existing databases

• Mastery of data modeling in practical applications of a complex nature

• Expert knowledge in performance monitoring and tuning of multiple DBMSs, use of multiple DB monitoring tools

• Organizational expertise in physical database design

• Advanced knowledge of MS SQL database administration (6+ years experience as SQL DBA)

• Working knowledge of database design for large relational databases, industry-standard data warehousing practices

• Familiarity with data quality, data management, data testing strategies and practices

• Experience with Azure administration and development, including Azure SQL, Data Factory, Data Lake, and Data Bricks

• Preferred experience supporting AI, machine learning, statistical modeling techniques

• Preferred experience supporting PII data sources and associated regulatory/information security requirements

• Proficiency in tuning MS SQL databases for performance
