What You Will Do:

The Senior Director HR Business Partner, Global Digital and IT Johnson Controls drives human capital, talent strategy and execution aligned to strategic business objectives for the global Digital and IT organization across Johnson Controls. The incumbent will be responsible for the strategic human resource planning and organizational development to lead our Digital businesses (including our leading-edge Open Blue software platform), hardware engineering teams and IT teams. The leader will partner with the Chief Technology Officer and the Chief Information Officer (both reporting to CEO) to ensure the best technical talent with unique leading-edge market skills to position the organization as the leading buildings technology solution provider driving world class customer and employee experience. The individual will drive strategic change in talent as the JCI organization evolves from product-centric to digital, services and solution mindset ensuring that strategic talent systems are developed including competency and skill models to evolve all talent over next 2-5 years. This role reports to the VP HR for North America, Global Digital and IT.

How You Will Do It:

  • Provides significant market-back talent thought leadership to the CTO and CIO of Johnson Controls to drive all talent aspects of software/hardware engineering and IT strategic and operational plans. Leads through collaborative influence a global team of HR professionals to provide unique talent solutions tailored to technology talent.

  • Anticipates strategic market strategies 2-3 years out to develop human resource planning models and identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps. Develops strategic and tactical programs to fill the identified gaps. Leverages data and analytic insights to inform strategic talent priorities.

  • Creates an experience-based talent culture across the organization leveraging persona-based approach to all aspects of talent development, attraction and motivation, and driving high performance culture.

  • Drives intense focus on creating the most engaging workplace environment in the buildings industry with ability to attract and retain the best software and hardware engineering talent in industry. Drives diversity and inclusion strategies to embrace applicants and employees of all backgrounds and to permit the full development and high performance of all employees.

  • Continually assesses the competitiveness of all programs and practices against the market with focus on other industrial companies as well as high tech companies focused on digital, solutions and services.

BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Overall experience of 10+ years with several years in HR.

  • Knowledge of enabling digital technology talent implications in a larger organization preferred.

  • Understands impact of talent strategies on engineering and technical teams leveraging data-driven insights

  • Demonstrated ability to partner and collaborate across matrixed organization to optimize outcomes.

  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective leader in a fast paced, pressure environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and translate plans into phased actions.

  • Extensive understanding and responsibility in project and program management principles, with explicit experience in applying to deploy complex talent strategies and programs across global organization.
