The Senior HSE Director plays a critical leadership role in ensuring the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) compliance across our operations. This position requires an experienced professional with extensive experience in the oil and gas industry, a deep understanding of HSE regulations and best practices, and the ability to drive a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions

HSE Strategy and Leadership:

  • Partners with President, Business Leaders, and Human Resources to elevate the safety and Continuous Improvement culture across the Production & Automation Technologies segment.
  • Develop and execute the HSE strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.
  • Provide visionary leadership to the HSE team, supporting local programs while fostering an overall culture of safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Risk Management:

  • Plans, implements, and oversees programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths and regulatory risks.
  • Develop and implement risk reduction strategies and emergency response plans.
  • Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accidents and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
  • Leading and enhancing the vehicle safety program; including training, technology implementation, risk assessment, and monitoring across our global fleets

Incident Management:

  • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries; works with legal counsel to prepare materials and evidence for use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Directs the preparation of studies and analyses of industrial accident causes and hazards to health; draws conclusions and makes recommendations based on the studies.
  • Directs the administration of workers' compensation program and engages the insurance carrier to reduce employee lost time.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Directs all environmental, health and safety activities that are required by OSHA, EPA, DOT and provincial/state regulations for the PAT operational entities.
  • Stay up to date with local, state, federal, and international HSE regulations.
  • Ensures that accident reports required by regulatory agencies are filed accurately and timely; and that safety files and records are maintained according to local regulations and company policies.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess HSE performance across the organization.
  • Responsible for the Safety Journey to Zero inclusive of leading and lagging metrics.
  • Regularly monitor and report on HSE performance to senior management and regulatory bodies.

Training and Education:

  • Develop and lead comprehensive HSE training programs for employees, contractors, and subcontractors as required by company policy and regulators
  • Ensure that all personnel are adequately trained in HSE procedures and practices.

Supplier and Contractor Oversight:

  • Collaborate with procurement and vendor management to ensure that suppliers and contractors adhere to HSE standards.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with HSE-compliant contractors.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the HSE department budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
  • Identify cost-effective solutions for improving HSE performance.

Maintains confidentiality of all matters.

Minimum Qualifications: (required)

Education, Licensing, and Certifications:

Required

Four year college or university degree in Risk Management, Engineering, Health Sciences, or related field or equivalent education and/or experience.

Ten or more years of relevant experiences

Preferred

Master's degree in Risk Management, Engineering, Health Sciences or related field.

Advanced safety designations from an accredited program (CSP, COSS, CSHO, CSHS).

Experience in the oil and gas industry

Physical Demands: (if applicable)

  • Role is deemed safety-sensitive and may be subject to employer or customer drug testing.
  • Ability to concentrate and focus for a minimum of 2 consecutive hours
  • Travel requirements: approximately 30% travel time is expected.

Preferred Qualifications: (if applicable)

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration
