Job Description
About the role:
Join Takeda as a Sr IP Paralegal where you will support the patent attorneys and agents in our offices with all formalities related to the preparation, filing and prosecution of US and international patent applications by outside counsel and foreign agents. As part of the Global General Counsel team, you will report to the US Patent Paralegal Lead.
How you will contribute:
Assist assigned attorneys with patent prosecution duties, which include corresponding with outside counsel and foreign agents under instructions of the responsible attorneys.
Assist billing team with resolving issues for law firms and other vendors.
Create all records related to assigned portfolio in docketing database (Anaqua), and report details to outside counsel.
Review all correspondence received for assigned portfolios, ensuring that all relevant data and updates are entered into Anaqua to provide docket reports for review by attorneys.
Ensure outside counsel has access to records in Anaqua for docketing and review those cases for errors, reporting discrepancies to outside counsel for correction.
Review, docket and save correspondence in Anaqua for cases not docketed by outside counsel.
Coordinate and obtain inventor, attorney and witness signatures on formalities, provide in-person notarization of signed documents, and obtain Apostille as necessary at the Secretary of State’s office.
Oversee annuities in Anaqua and ensure that fees are timely paid
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist with IP Group Projects
Assist Anaqua Administrator with maintenance of Anaqua system
Working on special projects as needed
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree, accredited paralegal certificate or equivalent work experience in the patent field
5+ years working experience as either a patent prosecution paralegal or patent assistant (preferably supporting patent attorneys in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical fields)
Demonstrated experience with US and foreign/ex-US prosecution, must be familiar with country specific documents and their requirements
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multi-task including maintaining and updating a docket, tracking correspondence and documents, and maintaining accurate records
Solid analytical skills and communication skills
Must be self-motivated, be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
Must be able to work independently
Experience using Anaqua or Patricia docketing systems a plus
Public notary a plus

Travel Requirements:
This is a hybrid position. Must be able to travel either to our Cambridge location or our Lexington location.
