As a Senior Software Control Engineer, you will be responsible to design, develop and support the industrial automation systems. 

At Allied you will have the exciting opportunity to work on embedded electronics that control brushless DC motors and associated actuation systems in the Industrial, Automotive, and Aerospace markets including major process automation, vehicle control, and space launch system providers. The engineer will research, develop, design, implement, test, and evaluate firmware and software solutions in conjunction with hardware product development. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interface with Sales Group:
    1. Discovery phase of new Control/Turnkey System opportunities.
    2. Develop control system bills of material based upon ORMEC Catalog Items for quoting to customer.
    3. Provide estimated Non-Recurring Engineering hours for development of control systems.
    4. Provide estimated Recurring Engineering hours for debug, commissioning and assembly of control systems.
  • Interfaces with customers to develop machine control specifications for customer specific applications which may include:
    1. Development of Application Specific software related to the project.
    2. Development of UL Rated Electrical Assemblies
    3. Identify and recommend control panel hardware as well as coordination of material purchases.
    4. Oversees construction of electrical assembles by manufacturing department staff.
    5. Coordination for commissioning and Debug of hardware and software in-house as well as on-site.     
  • Provide support to customer service department, includes but not limited to phone and on-site support.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Electrical
  • 8+ years of experience as a systems controls engineer with an excellent understanding of Industrial Motion Control Applications with mechanical aptitude including ability for servo motor sizung
  • Solid computer skills include MS Office, engineering design software such as Solidworks 2D/AutoCAD/MatLab, Visual C++/C, 
  • Knowledge of Communication Protocols such as EtherCat, CANopen, J1939, UDS, DS301, DS402, Modbus/TCP, Ethernet/IP, and Profinet etc.
  • Strong communication skills to communicate across different functional teams and clients effectively and proactively.
  • Ability to travel 15% to 20%
