The successful candidate will be an experienced systems engineering MBSE engineer capable of utilizing an interdisciplinary approach focusing on customer needs and requirements to design, develop, document and test hardware and/or software systems ranging from the straightforward to extremely complex. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with business partners to facilitate successful technology transitions. This opportunity offers the successful candidate the opportunity to be a leader and influencer in the architectural design decisions to protect our products in an ever-growing threat environment. The person in this role will be asked to provide guidance to pursuit teams, product lines, and all levels of management to aid in meeting customer needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
Lead system requirements modeling activity in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) environment.
Train engineers in MBSE/Cameo Systems Modeler usage and drive organizational change in modeling requirements.
Serve as a systems architect or as the lead systems engineer to capture, analyze, decompose, model, translate and create requirements for large complex systems and may lead system integration.
Mentors team in the development of functional, interface and performance specifications for hardware and software implementation. Identify and document architecturally significant requirements and technical risk areas
Lead technical proposal preparation and serve as a subject matter expert in non-advocate, internal and customer reviews
Estimate, track, manage and report status relating to technical, cost, schedule, and risk performance for assigned scope of work which may span across multiple projects.
Decisions may have a major impact on cost, schedule, and technical performance.
Act as a technical advisor to senior engineering and Value Stream leadership. Develop technical & product roadmaps and competitive assessments in area of expertise.
Recommends and helps implement new approaches, tools, and technique based on needs identified in metric and defect trends on current and related programs.
Develop and/or utilize prognostic metrics for system design and development. Review metrics and defects trends, identify systemic root causes and process improvements.
Demonstrated ability to rapidly build breadth into new technology areas
Mentors product development teams in the utilization of the appropriate processes and tools during product development, thus increasing product quality and improving customer satisfaction.
Basic Qualifications:
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering, Systems Modeling Language (SysML), Cameo Systems Modeler.
Experience with Agile development methodologies and application to system development
Experience with Requirements Modeling and Management process
Ability to travel up to 10% over the course of a year
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with RF Systems and/or Mission Systems solutions
Experience with communicating to external customers
Experience with project scheduling and strategic planning
Ability to perform with minimal direct supervisory support
Experience with earned value management
