Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is looking for Associate and Mid-Level Software Engineers capable of contributing to all phases of the software development lifecycle (requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification) to join our 777X/787 Integrated Modular Avionics Systems team.
The selected individual will assist with documenting of software requirements, architectures, algorithms, interfaces and designs for Integrated Modular Avionics software. You will be working with the coolest partners for Airborne software subsystems and ensure the Airplane meet requirements and comply with regulatory standards. The Engineer applying for this position must have an understanding of RTCA DO-178C, and/or any supplements such as DO-330, DO-331, and DO-332. An understanding of the relationship between software aspects of certification, software testing/quality assurance/automation, and the safety assessment process is required.

Position Responsibilities:
- Develops, documents and maintains architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs
- Develops and maintains code and integrates software components into a fully functional software system
- Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
- Performs software project management and software supplier management functions
- Develops, selects, tailors and deploys software processes, tools and metrics
- Executes and documents software research and development projects
- Serves as a subject matter expert for software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations
- Tracks and evaluates software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process conformance to project plans and industry standards
- Works under general direction
This position is expected to be onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
- Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree.
- 2+ years’ experience in software engineering.
- 2+ years’ experience with software development using either Java, C++, or Python.
- 2 + years' of experience in RTCA DO-178 (B/C) Software Considerations in Airborne Systems and Equipment Certification.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Typical Education/Experience:
Associate (Level 2):
Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
Mid-Level (Level 3):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
