Doble Engineering Company seeks Senior Client Service Protection Engineer in Marlborough, MA – Provides technical and application support on Doble products, analysis of test results, and consultation on power apparatus. Provides technical support on operation and application protection hardware and software to existing clients. Involved in supporting R&D related to application and product development, as well as providing assistance to the test department. Provides support to Doble clients via email, telephone and web-based solutions. Prepares test plans for various models of protection, meter, transducer and control devices and systems for use in various Doble software applications. This includes the use of worksheets and programming scripts to make them reusable and automated. Delivers training to clients on testing techniques and applications of Doble protection hardware and software solutions. Can work independently with very little management oversight on daily activities. Writes technical papers, application notes, guides on topics related to Doble products and services and presents them at Doble conferences and other technical conferences. May participate in conferences and other company sponsored events including committee meetings, general sessions, user group meetings and meeting with customers.

 

Required: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical or Power and Energy Engineering plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or related position.

 

Must have:

• 5 years of experience working in the electric power industry.
• 4 years of experience with Doble’s protection hardware and software offerings.
• 3 years of experience with digital relay lab to simulate and reproduce scenarios including (configuration of relays using IEC 61850, configuration of Merging Units, networking, and switching) as well as providing support and answering technical questions.
• 3 years of experience with IEC 61850 Standard.
• 2 years of experience with Software RTS to help clients in basic level of support to troubleshoot between software and hardware.
• 2 years of experience with Power Base to help clients in the exportation of information from Protection Suite to Protection Asset and set dataset software.
• 1 year of experience with CAD software including written documentation and CAD drawings to diagnose hardware failure in connections and installations and provide support in answering questions.

 

Must have experience with:

• Protective relays.
• Testing devices including microprocessor relays, simple electromechanical relays, meters, transducers and control devices.
• Mathematical skills for modeling relay characteristics and for fault calculations and transients.
• Customer service.
• Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)

 

In the alternate, will accept 7 years of experience in the job offered or related position.

Willingness to travel 30% of the time to both domestic and international locations for periods that are typically 6 days (Sunday to Friday) and rarely exceeding 14 days. Salary $159,661 per year, 40 hours per week.
