JOB SUMMARY:

Receives work assignments from Field Test Supervisor, Design Team Leader or from Test Engineer. Depending on test loads and assignments, this position would report to the Field Test Supervisor but also receive work assignments from Test Lab.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct tests on outdoor power equipment and report results at the direction of engineering personnel.

  • Follow written test procedures and safe work practices.

  • Perform tests on durability, performance and safety of outdoor power equipment.

  • Troubleshoot test unit failures or test equipment failures to determine cause. Effectively communicate results to get failures corrected.

  • Maintain documentation of tests during process to allow for clear reporting of test results at the completion of the test.

  • Construct necessary tooling/fixtures as directed by test engineer and as required to properly test units or components. Fabricate and fit mechanical and electrical components.

  • Perform preventative maintenance on test equipment as directed by test engineer.

  • Use technician writing skills to complete an end of test report for completed tests.

  • Will be required to run equipment and train other operators on the use of equipment assigned.

  • Comply with all Husqvarna policies and procedures, including policies of the Engineering Lab and Field Test departments, as well as Husqvarna’s safety policy and procedures for all Test personnel, to include but not limited to: wearing of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), weather-specific clothing, rain-gear, safety vests and flashers, etc. as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Required -High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • 5-8 years of relatable experience

  • Associate degree in a Technical Science (MET, Electronics, etc.) preferred

  • Knowledge of data acquisition (e.g. LabView), strain gauges, accelerometers, electric circuit board diagnosis.

  • Previous experience in repair and/or testing of outdoor power equipment or other consumer products.

  • Battery or electrical system testing. ASE or technical certification (e.g. Motorcycle Technician).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Ability to use a variety of tools to test and maintain engines and test equipment.

  • Proficiency with computer programs in an engineering environment (i.e. MS Excel, Word, etc.).

  • Organized and project oriented.

  • Hands-on, can-do attitude, verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to standards and take direction.

  • Ability to work off shift hours and overtime (including weekends) as required.

  • Personal computer skills are required, to include but not limited to: MS Office software applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes.

  • Ability to work overtime, off shifts and weekends as needed is required to support functional leads.

80% of time is spent in an outdoor testing environment, with some (but not all) climate-controlled areas. 20% is spent in a general office environment. Potential physical demands include, but are not limited to: minimal sitting, occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. Potential sensory demands include but are not limited to: hearing and seeing.
