General Purpose:

Manage the strategic sourcing of packaging and other direct and indirect materials for Ingredient Solutions, ensuring consistent procurement standards and activities across business units’ indirect spend. Collaborate with multiple stakeholders including, but not limited to, operations, optimization, and sales to understand business objectives, establish goals in support, and deliver expected results. Support the formation and execution of complex category strategies. Optimize the value stream through the development and execution of both near-term (e.g., RFPs) and multiyear (e.g., sourcing strategies) campaigns, and prioritization of initiatives in support of business objectives.; Continuously seek opportunities to maximize total value delivered to Dairy Farmers of America.

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies through process and tools definition, training, utilizing strategy calendar for all material spend under management, targeting spend efficiency (cost savings), portfolio/material optimization, and innovation
  • Lead the management of supplier relationships
  • Support team and cross-train on complex strategy development; adapt quickly to changing business priorities
  • Define and deliver cost-savings targets through analysis and identification of “addressable” spend and understanding of business goals
  • Deliver against defined savings targets, and develop robust pipeline of viable projects for the future (2-5 -year time horizon)
  • Effectively utilize and contribute to the improvement of systems to effectively make sound business decisions
  • Align priorities with internal stakeholders such as business leaders, Research & Development, Operations, and Quality, lead campaign implementation, across business units where appropriate
  • Develop, monitor, manage, and report on KPIs for agreed-upon categories and/or supply relationships
  • Understand business objectives, interpret/recommend Indirect procurement support and priorities, and establish measurable goals tied into the business objectives
  • Follow up with leadership and key stakeholders at establish intervals to keep apprised of evolving business needs, solicit feedback on performance, and agree on modified plans for prioritized activities in response to the evolving environment, with measurable deliverables
  • Ensure direct procurement is providing customer-oriented service to the business by establishing credibility and strong relationships with key stakeholders in all functions, develop contingency plans and capacity analyses for assigned categories
  • Effectively balance between strategic and tactical tasks; delegate operational workstreams
  • Collaborate with Operational Procurement team on the management of daily activities and contribute to the development of Operational Analyst(s) directly supporting categories
  • Establish relationships with suppliers critical to DFA and ensure key partners are engaged on strategy development, drive productivity, innovation, and continuous improvement for all DFA business units
  • Partner and collaborate with business units, R&D, Sales and Operations on growth, and innovation platforms
  • Manage supply base to ensure supply continuity, service, and quality
  • Aggregate and apply industry knowledge to maximize category opportunities
  • Participate in corporate-wide processes (e.g., annual budgeting) and provide feedback on how we can continually improve and evolve each process to maximize transparency, performance, and efficiency
  • Live DFA’s core values and let them be the guiding principles for every decision in the procurement process
  • Demonstrate good business acumen such as knowledge and understanding of the financials, marketing, and operating functions of an organization; apply good judgment and make smart decisions
  • Comply with DFA policies (e.g., financial policies, procurement policies, confidentiality, and risk management policies) and communicate policies to suppliers and stakeholders to minimize risks
