Our team in Owatonna, MN is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer who will provide internal teams with technical assistance in quality engineering, inspection/verification, and issue identification and resolution. This Global Quality Engineer is the primary quality leader in support or our internationally sourced components and finished goods and will travel in support of those suppliers and products.
At a minimum you'll need:
- Technical degree in related areas (quality assurance, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering) or ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated knowledge of and skills in the use of inspection/measurement/test equipment/metrology
- Excellent blueprint reading skills
- Demonstrated math/statistical background with a strong numbers aptitude
It'd be great if you also have:
- Three to five (3-5) years of quality assurance, engineering, or related manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of ERP systems (Epicor)
- Knowledge of Solidworks
- Knowledge Minitab or other statistical software
- Knowledge of hardware/technical expertise
As a Supplier Quality Engineer a typical day might include:
- Performing data collection, statistical analysis, report generation, and supplier trip reports
- Representing the Quality Assurance department in Product Development Teams and Quality/Productivity Teams
- Maintaining non-conforming material database entries and cost analysis for assigned suppliers
- Initiating and maintaining inspection procedures internally and with suppliers as needed
- Supporting the global procurement team during off-hours as needed
- Travelling to foreign suppliers 2-4 times annually to support processes, quality improvement, and product reviews
- Supporting First Article processing and inspection for new supplier, parts, or substantive changes
- Reviewing ECOs/drawings prior to release on assigned product groups
- Providing leadership and support to the Receiving/Quality department as necessary
- Providing training of other team members in statistical methods, quality improvement tools, and metrology
- Recommending new methods to increase efficiency or new equipment for either inspection or production at suppliers
- Developing and helping source necessary inspection tools, equipment, and fixtures
- Supporting daily continuous process improvement and Lean initiatives by maintaining Gemba board metrics, gathering and analyzing data to identify and lead improvements in their areas of responsibility.
