THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Supply Planning Manager will report to the Director of Planning & Logistics and will have direct responsibilities for inventory strategy to ensure the right products at the right places at the right time. This key position is responsible for a wide variety of functions related to inventory design, inventory control, master data, life cycle management, and data analysis. The ideal candidate should be detailed oriented, possess the ability to analyze data, and can effectively disseminate information, while challenging the status-quo to improve processes, procedures, and practices. This role requires cross-functional teamwork to fulfill the Transtar mission of simplifying complex vehicle repair to keep the world moving.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build a strong working relationship with other functional areas in a way that promotes cooperation and communication in the effort to service our customers with excellent fill rates
- Lead the supply planning team, consisting of 3 full-time, remote professionals.
- Drive the development of reporting capabilities which support day-to-day activities as well as strategic decision-making
- Own the inventory design, stocking strategy, and related processes of the multi-tier distribution network
- Ensure the maintenance of the planning software’s inventory management settings which drive execution to inventory design; potentially serve on the project team to implement a new planning software
- Continuously improve inventory accuracy through the use of cycle counts and physical inventories
- Responsible for reporting and analysis of key performance indicators around supply planning
- Lever inventory design controls to ensure efficient usage of working capital
- Active participation in the preparation and meetings of the sales and operations alignment process
- Supervise assigned team members, including providing department and/or project orientation, and day-to-day guidance.
- Make recommendations regarding employment, performance appraisals, salary changes, promotions, and transfers for team members reporting to you.
- Encourage and facilitate opportunities for on-going professional development for all team members.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least eight years’ experience in production/supply planning required, preferably in a hub-and-spoke distribution environment
- At least 4 years of people management experience with demonstrated people management success
- JD Edwards or other ERP system experience required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, or other related discipline preferred. MBA or other relevant certifications ideal.
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Self-starter – ability to initiate and execute with limited assistance and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Effective writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent MS Excel, MS Access skills required; MS BI (business intelligence), Tableau, or other data visualization software experience
