Summary of Position:

The Primary function of a delivery driver is to safety and efficiently operator a commercial motor vehicle in compliance with company policies along with Federal and State regulations and delivers all freight undamaged. Work as a team player to deliver, load/unload materials while providing a world class customer service experience.  

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Safe operation of delivery vehicle (adherence to all traffic laws)
• Complete vehicle inspection reports
• Maintain cleanliness of delivery vehicle
• Assist dispatcher in preventative maintenance
• Delivery of materials (stocked in customer’s desired location)
• Handling and documentation of returned products
• Accurate pick up and processing of purchases
• Attendance and participation in weekly safety meetings
• Assist in accurately loading orders
• Obtain customer signatures and review details
• Effective communication with customers prior to and during deliveries
• Efficiency in delivery and pick up of product transfers to CBSI locations
• Effectively communicate with dispatcher and follow scheduled route
• Accurate and timely processing of delivery documents
• Proper use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)  
• Assist in order pulling when not on delivery
• Assist in warehouse cleanliness and organization
• Assist in any duties that drive customer service levels
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

• Ability to self-manage, show initiative and be proactive
• Communicate professionally, both verbally and in writing to coworkers and customers

Basic Qualifications:

• At least 21 years of age
• 3 years of a valid state issued driving record
• Must maintain a safe driving record in line with GMS standards and pass a pre-employment drug screen
• A positive attitude and professional appearance are required
• Geographic knowledge of area, delivery experience, experience with building materials and customer service experience are helpful to this position, but not required

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to remain in stationary position while driving commercial vehicle 40%
• Constantly, moving from unloading materials from commercial motor vehicle onto job site
• Constantly, operates commercial motor vehicle and/or boom vehicle
• Constantly, positions self to unload materials from flatbed or boom
• Must be able to judge distance while delivering materials and/or operating boom
• Frequently moves materials weighing up to 80lbs while unloading flatbed
• Must be able to communicate with management and coworkers and be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
• Constantly working in outside environment while making deliveries

• Must be able to prioritize job sites and deadlines
• Must be able to manage stress depending on customer’s deadline
• Must be able to multitask
• Must be able to receive information and directions
• Must be able to quickly communicate solutions if problems occur
• Must be able to demonstrate a high degree of sound judgement
