Job Title: Truss Designer

Reports to: Director of Design

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Division: Pineville, NC

Job Summary:

The Truss Designer reads residential and commercial plans to design wood trusses for both roof and floor truss systems. The Designer communicates with production teams, customers, and Store Managers to ensure designs are accurate throughout the process.

Attention to detail and knowledge of design software are crucial for success in this position. The successful candidate will have a strong can-do work ethic and a flexible approach to the work at hand. They must be able to discuss the design with customers and to work as a member of a team — all while having a strong belief in the mission and goals of the company.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• MITEK experience is strongly preferred
• Must be able to learn new software for the purposes of producing truss delivery packets
• Previous experience using truss design software 
• Knowledgeable in the basic aspects of construction 
• Competency in basic mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry 
• Knowledgeable in reading architectural and structural plans 
• Ability to analyze and problem solve
• Strong verbal and written communication skills 
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or Equivalent. Prior estimator or work order writing experience is helpful.

Hours of operation are 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional overtime.
