The New Company
On September 14, 2022, Danaher announced its intention to separate its Environmental & Applied Solutions segment to create an independent, publicly traded company. The new company will be called Veralto and will be comprised of an outstanding collection of market-leading brands in Danaher's Environmental and Applied Solutions (EAS) segment: Hach, ChemTreat, Trojan, OTT HydroMet, and McCrometer from Danaher's Water Quality Platform and Videojet, Esko, X-Rite Pantone and Linx from the Product Identification Platform.
The EAS segment generated revenue of approximately $4.8 billion in 2022 and has a global team of approximately 16,000 associates. As stewards of the world's most vital resources, Veralto will help ensure billions of people have safe food, water, and medicines every day. With a strong Danaher heritage, the Veralto team will continue to deliver trusted expertise to solve its customers' most complex workflow challenges. Its culture of continuous improvement will be codified in the Veralto Enterprise System, which is derived from the Danaher Business System. Veralto will be headquartered in Waltham, Massachusetts, and intends to apply to list its common stock on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol VLTO.”
About the Role
The Vice President Talent and Diversity reports to the SVP, Human Resources (C) and is accountable for the development and execution of EAS Talent Management, Talent Acquisition and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion strategy. Additionally, the successful candidate will serve as a member of the Human Resource (HR) Leadership Team and help shape the function of EAS to over 16,000 associates globally.
The Vice President Talent and Diversity will be a strategic and hands-on leader who will play a key role in ensuring that Veralto attracts the best, diverse talent and cultivates an experience where every associate feels a sense of belonging, develops to their potential, and meaningfully impacts Veralto. To achieve this, the leader, in partnership with the CHRO, HR Leadership Team, and business leadership, will shape the longer-term, integrated Talent and Diversity strategy at Veralto, foster an environment committed to authenticity, innovation, and inclusivity, and build a culture of excellence in HR as we develop and strengthen our partnership with the business and our stakeholders.
Talent Management
- Lead a team of four talent & organizational planning and learning & development professionals.
- Leverage deep customer insights to understand talent and org needs and design and develop strategic talent solutions that enable EAS’s business priorities. Align with Platform and Operating Company (OpCo) HR teams to understand common and unique needs that arise from the strategic planning process and organization design, strategy, and talent discussions.
- In partnership with EBSO, identify and deploy learning and development solutions at the Veralto and functional level to improve associate performance and accelerate career development, leveraging digital and technology solutions where appropriate.
- Serve as a consultant, coach and key thought partner to HR and business leaders — advising, mentoring, and influencing the HR and Executive Leadership Teams and HR and business leaders across the Veralto operating companies on matters of talent needs and succession, leadership development, organizational effectiveness, career growth and learning, engagement and retention, and diversity & inclusion.
- Establish and govern core talent processes for leadership pipeline and talent funnel growth to attract and retain top talent to drive business growth.
- Use data, insights, EBS tools and processes to identify and prioritize problems, design, launch and sustain simple solutions and measure impact to address the most critical business needs and advance the organization’s strategy.
- Partner with business leaders to understand and diagnose organizational gaps and address through organization design and development initiatives that build and sustain functional capabilities to drive performance.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Lead a team of three diversity and inclusion professionals.
- Advance diversity, equity and inclusion strategy while aligning and executing a cohesive approach that integrates new and existing initiatives, policies, programs, systems, and procedures that cultivate an environment where all can thrive; evaluate and execute on goals and close critical gaps.
- Demonstrate accountability, leadership, and influence with executive leadership team to set and achieve metrics related to talent, diversity, equity, and inclusion; leverage insights to drive critical outcomes for Veralto’s business and associates.
- Lead a diverse and high-performing team who are thought partners to the business and HRBP / COE teams across disciplines.
- Drive greater team collaboration, communication, accountability, and cohesion.
- Model Veralto leadership behaviors by applying insights, instilling trust, delivering results, and winning as a team; ensure thoughtful measures to evolve and sustain DBS culture at Veralto.
Talent Acquisition
- Initially, this role has direct responsibility to lead aspects of Veralto’ talent acquisition model that are centralized within Corporate; ultimately, this role is accountable for optimizing the existing talent acquisition capability within Veralto to further talent as a competitive differentiator for the business by identifying opportunities to enhance the model’s effectiveness through process or structural improvements.
- Initially, this role will lead a TA Operations team of two professionals and responsible for enabling Veralto’ talent acquisition activity through vendors, tools, and technology by:
- Designing and executing the Talent Acquisition technology roadmap aligned to Veralto’ priorities and with a goal of ensuring alignment with the HRIS strategy;
- Assessing and improving KPIs measuring success of Talent Acquisition performance globally. Deliver real-time and accurate data, and generate insights, about the effectiveness of the global TA function to key stakeholders (TA leaders, senior HR and business leaders) by designing and executing on a talent acquisition reporting and analytics strategy. Leverage these insights to enable ongoing optimization of the model by measuring key performance indicators such as return on investment;
- Promoting process excellence through strategic measurement and evaluation of TA tools and processes on an ongoing basis; identify opportunities and lead resulting process improvement initiatives to improve the experience for key stakeholders (recruiters, hiring managers, candidates).
- Overseeing selection and management of vendors, including measuring and analyzing usage of vendors through use of performance scorecards and enable data-based decisions regarding utilization and overall participation.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor is required. Advanced degree preferred.
- Proven 15+ years Human Resource professional experience with 10+ years of leadership experience and a proven track record of owning and advancing full life cycle talent processes and cultural transformation.
- Experience working with a result oriented, company known for process excellence, innovation and measurable ROI.
- Has significant global leadership experience, working across cultures and geographies.
- Demonstrates success in partnering across a highly matrixed organization, where leaders at all levels focus on demonstrating visible commitment to core values, a culture of inclusion, operating principles, and practices. An authentic collaborator who is able to navigate in a complex global matrix and be effective across corporate and regional organizations on an international basis.
- Experience and facility working in a lean / kaizen culture/continuous improvement, with a track record of utilizing these methodologies as a business practice.
- Understanding of company financials and business strategy along with the ability to effectively translate business knowledge into talent and culture solutions that support the business and maintain alignment among global teams.
- History of successfully driving and leading change while managing multiple projects, engaging stakeholders, driving accountability and meeting deliverables within expected parameters and deadlines.
- Strong people leadership with the ability and genuine desire to inspire and mentor a team as he/she raises the bar on performance.
- Philosophically aligned with the deep culture value EAS places on maintaining a lean organization in the interest of financial discipline and agile operations, and embraces a mindset of continuous improvement, DBS (Danaher Business System) to improve the status quo.
