SUMMARY
The Web Developer shall support CNSS/Client team in their mission to provide IT technical services in direct support of the scientific data collection program. The successful candidate will have a set of computer science abilities to include computer programming, Amazon Web Services programming, web development skills, and database management skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
CNSS is searching for a Web Developer to support their team at the South Atlantic Water Science Center (SAWSC). This is a very exciting opportunity to join a top-notch team of IT professionals and technicians. This position will support the team in the following tasks:
- Support future web development and programming needs identified by the CNSS in collaboration with client staff
- Design, develop, and maintain Data Management systems capable of accommodating scientific and business requirements and processes.
- Development of web services to display datasets.
- Developing algorithms to merge and interpolate different types of data.
- Manage existing web services by reviewing and revising outdated datasets.
- Participates in IT related meetings and trainings.
- Provide training to staff on completion of assigned projects/tasks.
- Provide written documentation on completed projects/tasks.
DELIVERABLES
Develop project management and administrative applications to assist client staff with routine workflows
Create datasets, construct plots, graphs, and other figures for display in a web environment.
Perform quality control / quality assurance methods monthly.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
N/A. Will defer to the CNSS Program Manager or Site Lead and may coordinate tasks with client representative (Task Order Manager)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Computer Science degree preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Web developer with strong JavaScript skills
- Must have Amazon Web Services experience (Lambda, API Gateways, DynamoDB, S3, Serverless)
- Experience with Microsoft 365 including PowerApps, Power Automate, Lists, and SharePoint
- Experience with:
- React/Redux (for front-end)
- Node
- Creating and consuming REST API
- Git
- CSS - Ability to take initiatives to improve our applications and to work independently.
- Ability to learn and use new technologies as needed.
- Knowledge of, and skill in applying Data Management concepts and methods; Data Management principles and technical documentation procedures; communication methods and analytical methods enough to prepare instructions and update manuals.
- Demonstrated proficiency programming skills in Python, SQL, PHP, R, IDL and PowerShell.
- Experience in working with federal web accessibility guidelines.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid Schedule.Office or teleworking environment. Travel for meetings may be needed. Raleigh, NC; Atlanta, GA; and Columbia, SC
- Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.
