Job Description

Under general direction, expert in use of hand welding and flame cutting equipment such as arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches to weld together metal components.

 

Fabricates and assemble metal structures and equipment through the use of welders, cutters, shapers and measuring tools. Produce metal products according to specifications. Read and interpret diagrams, sketches and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for projects. Set up, operate and maintain welding equipment.

Qualifications

Requires a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Expert ability to read engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations. Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques. Requires precision control and dexterity. Able to move objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
